Today was the kickoff to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee for Queen Elizabeth II, for serving 70 years on the British throne. She is the only longest reigning monarch and was there to enjoy the celebration with most of the royal family, sending a message to all who were there.
“I continue to be inspired by the goodwill shown to me, and hope that the coming days will provide an opportunity to reflect on all that has been achieved during the last seventy years.”

There was a display of military pageantry with the trooping the colour ceremony and a fly by with fighter jets to form 70. At the the age of 96, the Queen has had to cut back on some of the activity included in the ceremony and was there to see it all on the balcony of Buckingham Palace.
Part of the show was stolen by the Queen’s great-grandson Prince Louis who was chatting with the Queen and then had enough of the fighter jets flypast at one point when he covered his ears and appeared to scream, and became a popular meme.

A four-day holiday weekend is underway in the country for everyone to celebrate the festivities , which include a thanksgiving ceremony Friday, a concert at the Palace on Saturday with Duran Duran and Queen, and a pageant Sunday afternoon. There was also a documentary from the BBC that featured never-before-seen film from home movies that the Queen permitted from her private collection.
