Thunder Bay Police Service Officers were dispatched to Amelia Street West after reports of shots being fired early Thursday.

They were joined by Superior North EMS Paramedics as well.

When they arrived they found a 31-year-old Thunder Bay man that had sustained injuries from an apparent shooting. The victim died at the scene because of his injuries.

His name is not being released yet, as the next of kin must be notified first.

Members of the Major Crimes Unit are now involved in the investigation, and as of 10 a.m. Thursday, there is still a police presence at the scene.
