If you are going to be out socializing in Halifax, police are asking you to keep a close eye on your drink.
It was May 17, when police say there were two separate incidents at different establishments involving women who became ill and showed signs of impairment after reportedly only drinking a small amount of alcohol.
Both of them required medical attention.
There is an investigation into whether the drinks were tampered with and at this time no evidence to suggest the incidents were related.
Police say giving a drug to a person without their permission is a criminal offence and encourage bar staff, friends and family to look out for one another.
Symptoms can manifest five to 30 minutes after consumption and can last up to 12 hours.
They include:
- Dizziness
- Drowsiness
- Confusion
- Difficulty walking
- Nausea/vomiting
- Blurred vision
- Memory loss
- Unconsciousness/passing out
- Difficulty breathing
