Thunder Bay Police Service’s Traffic Unit is reminding drivers that while summertime provides ideal road conditions, posted speed limits must still be followed.

On top of this, warmer weather conditions means more bicycle and pedestrian traffic, so police urge people to drive with extreme care and consider other’s safety.

Thunder Bay Police Service says to help keep our roadways safe for everyone, they will continue to enforce these traffic laws. This includes laying charges relating to stunt driving.

One such motorist, a 22-year-old Thunder Bay woman, received a stunt driving charges just before 11 a.m. on Friday, July 16.

She was observed by a Traffic Unit officer travelling in a white sedan heading eastbound on Dawson Road, approaching Hilldale Avenue, at a speed of 94 km/h. The posted maximum speed limit was 50 km/h.

The punishment included a seven-day license suspension, a vehicle being impounded, and a court appearance in September.
