Poor air quality is expected across northwestern Ontario and the province as a whole.
Environment Canada issued Special Air Quality Statements across Ontario early Monday morning in response.
Air quality is supposed to remain poor through the day and into Tuesday for some areas.
“As smoke levels increase, health risks increase. Limit time outdoors. Consider reducing or rescheduling outdoor sports, activities and events,” said Environment Canada in the statement. “You may experience mild and common symptoms such as eye, nose and throat irritation, headaches or a mild cough.”
People more likely to be impacted by outdoor air pollution include those aged 65 and older, pregnant individuals, infants and young children, individuals with existing illnesses or chronic health conditions, and those working outdoors.
You should reduce or reschedule outdoor activities and seek medical attention if you start to experience symptoms.
