As one of the at-large councillors, Peng You made it known at the Canada Day festivities that he wants to be the next mayor for the city.

Right now, he is acting mayor. Bill Mauro announced last week that he’s not going for a second term in the municipal election.

A person isn’t considered an official candidate until they file their paperwork at the City Clerk’s office.

Only two other individuals have filed papers for the mayoral candidacy; Gary Mack and Robert Szczepanski.

The election is October 24.
