More than 8,500 NB Power customers are in the dark between Norton and Salisbury as of 11:45 a.m. Friday.

Communities affected include Apohaqui, Drurys Cove, Penobsquis, Sussex and Moosehorn Creek.

According NB Power’s outage site, the cause in most cases is a transmission outage.

Estimates have power being restored between 2 and 3 p.m. Friday.
