A protest is planned for the Davis Cup tennis matches Friday afternoon.

Several activist groups have organized a March starting at the Garrison Grounds at 2:30 p.m. Friday.

More than 400 athletes and academics wrote a letter calling for the Canada vs Israel match to be canceled.

They describe Israel’s actions in Gaza as a genocide against the Palestinian people.

Tennis Canada closed the match to the public and then the city pulled $50,000 in funding.

Another march is planned for noon at the Halifax Oval on Saturday.
