The province says they have a tentative agreement in place with the Nova Scotia Teachers Union.

Details of the new contract won’t be released until the province’s 1,100 teachers vote to ratify the deal.

Premier Tim Houston says he’s happy the bargaining teams were able to get a deal that’s fair to teachers and ensures improved classroom conditions.

The current four-year deal expired in 2023.

The NSTU said they had an agreement ‘in principle’ with the province on April 18, just one week after 98 percent of members voted for strike action.

Rallies were held by members, as they pushed for higher wages and improved classroom conditions.
