RCMP are searching for a man after alleged arson at a gas station on Hammonds Plains road.

Officers say it happened around 7 a.m. near the intersection of Kingswood Drive, according to a release from police.

They say the suspect is 40-year-old Matthew Gauthier, who police believe “is in crisis and is now considered missing.”

They describe Gauthier as a medium build, who was last seen wearing jeans, with burns on a pant leg, and a green plaid jacket with a hood.

The RCMP says there was a large police presence in the area this morning, but there was no danger to public safety.
