Premier Doug Ford is expected to call an election next week.
Seniors sources within the Progressive Conservatives confirmed the election call with CBC on Thursday.
When asked earlier in the day if he planned to send Ontarians to the polls, his response only added fuel to intense election speculation.
“Stay tuned.” Ford quipped.
It would mean an election will be held on February 27.
Ontario has fixed election dates with the next vote not scheduled until 2026, but Ford’s majority government can call for a vote sooner.
Ford has been open about wanting a new mandate to deal with U.S. President Donald Trump as he continues to threaten applying taxes on goods coming from Canada.
