A spokesperson for the Monarchist League of Canada thinks the Queen’s current state of poor health is a bit of a wake up call for many of us so accustomed to having her as part of our national fabric.

“It’s a bit of a reminder that life is a fragile thing and that she is 96. Certainly things can potentially change on a dime,” noted Barry MacKenzie.

“We’re hoping that this is just a false alarm, but it certainly is concerning because we know that so many members of the family have rushed to Scotland to be there with her.”

MacKenzie said this was somewhat unexpected given that we saw her just a couple days ago meeting with new U.K. prime minister Liz Truss.

He felt she looked frail but very vibrant.

MacKenzie added it is a bit striking there was a change so quickly because typically the signs may be there a bit earlier.
