Saint John’s inside workers, who went on strike nearly a month ago, have voted to accept a tentative agreement reached on Friday.
Simon Ouellette, a spokesperson with CUPE New Brunswick, said members of Local 486 voted in favour of the deal on Monday.
The exact results of that vote were not immediately available on Monday evening.
Saint John Common Council and the Saint John Board of Police Commissioners will be asked to approve the new agreement on Tuesday.
Members of CUPE Local 486 have been off the job since Sept. 12 after voting in favour of a strike.
Wages had been the main sticking point in the dispute. The union claimed the city was not following its wage escalation policy, while city staff said the deal they were offering was fair.
Details of the new agreement will not be made available until it has been approved by all sides.
CUPE Local 486 represents around 140 clerical, administrative and support staff who work in several city departments, including police/fire/911 dispatch, customer service, bylaw enforcement, permitting, recreation, court services, financial services, administrative support, IT and technical roles.
