TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD:
We’re a few days removed from Halloween – and now comes the sad part for not only you, but also the kids. The jack-o’-lantern / the pumpkin you’ve been showing off for over a week now – is starting to look like it pulled an all-nighter and lost a fight with a squirrel.

The good news: instead of sending that pumpkin to the landfill, the City has once again brought back the Great Pumpkin Smash! Now, thru November 10th, you can drop your old pumpkins into special compost bins at the Westfort Playfield, the Intercity Shopping Centre overflow parking lot across from Fort William Road, and County Fair Plaza.

And honestly, there’s something kind of satisfying about giving your pumpkin one last mission. It spends Halloween making memories, then gets turned into compost that helps grow something new. That’s a pretty good retirement plan for a pumpkin.
Just remember to remove any candles, plastic or metal decorations first. Then toss it in the bin and let nature do the rest. A little less waste, a little more green, and one less mushy pumpkin sitting on your front step until Christmas!
