The Thunder Bay Police Service has closed its investigation to locate a 25-year-old and a 23-year-old who were last seen on April 26.

The search for the two missing persons led to a set of old grain elevators and silos on Duncan Street near Syndicate Avenue, and later, the nearby river.

Following the closure of the investigation, the Nishnawbe Aski Nation released a statement, thanking the public and all of the emergency services involved in the search for their assistance.

“While we have always held out hope for a positive outcome, we must now face the sad reality that our worst fears may soon be acknowledged,” read the statement. “We appreciate the prayers, love, and support that has been expressed by citizens in Thunder Bay, Fort William First Nation, and across NAN territory. Miigwetch for your support, and please keep the families and Mishkeegogamang community in your prayers.”
