The hot, muggy weather continues for much of the province with a chance of intense thunder and lightning on the South Shore.

Heat warnings are still in effect for Nova Scotia, except in extreme western areas.

Meanwhile a severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for Lunenburg and Queens counties.

Environment Canada says conditions are favourable for the development of dangerous thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts and torrential rain.

Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads.

The forecaster advises to be prepared for severe weather.

Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches. If you hear thunder, then lightning is close enough to be dangerous.
