Strike action is coming after more than a year without a contract for Thunder Bay transit workers.

In a release union President, Fred Caputo, says that workers have been without a contract for the last 18 months and members have decided to take strike action.

that this is a very difficult and frustrating time for
our members. They have been selflessly working through this entire pandemic to serve
the citizens of Thunder Bay, and deserve a fair and equitable agreement.”

With the last contract having expired in June 2020, the union has been in talks ever since. They broke off at the end of September with the Union applying for mediation between the two parties.

The province will be appointing a Conciliator who will meet with both parties separately, and find solutions suitable for both groups.
