Two Manitoba residents and two Alberta residents have been arrested following an incident of stunt driving which has led to weapons charges.
Ontario Provincial Police pulled the vehicle over west of Ignace around 10:15 a.m. Friday.
There it was determined there was a loaded firearm in the vehicle which required support from the Emergency Response Team.
Fortunately the incident was resolved peacefully.
A 19 year old from Edmonton, Alberta and a 23 year old from Labroqurie, Manitoba each face the following charges:
- Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Person,
- Careless storage of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited device or ammunition,
- Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm,
- Occupant of Motor Vehicle knowing there was Firearm and
- Possession of loaded prohibited or restricted firearm.
Meanwhile a 25 year old from Blumenort, Manitoba and a 22 year old from Edmonton, Alberta face the charges of:
- Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Person,
- Careless storage of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited device or ammunition,
- Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm,
- Occupant of Motor Vehicle knowing there was Firearm,
- Possession of loaded prohibited or restricted firearm and
- Failure to comply with release order – two counts.
All four remain in custody pending the out come of a court appearance taking place today.
The investigation continues with assistance from the Community Street Crime Unit, Crime Unit and Forensic Identification Unit.
