It was a dark night for thousands in the southeastern part of the province.

The lights suddenly went out at around 10 p.m. last night.

NB Power reported over 25, 000 in areas including Moncton, Riverview, Dieppe and surrounding regions without electricity.

Most had their power restored by around 1 am.

Around 1000 in the Shediac region remained without electricity this morning.

There’s no word yet on what caused the outage.
