Sydney Crosby is a captain once again.

Hockey Canada has announced the Pittsburg Penguins star, from Cole Harbour, will lead Canada’s team at the world hockey championships.

Fellow Cole Harbour native of the Colorado Avalanche, Nathan MacKinnon has been named alternate, alongside Nashville forward, Ryan O’Reilly.

Crosby, a hockey phenom, is no stranger to success.

The last time he was at the world championships was ten years ago when he led Canada to a gold medal in the Czech Republic.

Crosby was also Canada’s team captain at the 4-Nation’s Face-Off in February and scored the winning goal at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics against the United States.

The puck drops for Canada against Slovenia in Stockholm, Sweden, Saturday.
