A taxi driver in Thunder Bay is facing charges following an overnight incident.

Officers were sent to Cumberland Street South around 1:30 a.m. on Thursday after receiving a report about a possible sexual assault.

Responding officers located a female victim who reported being a passenger in a licensed taxi when she was sexually assaulted by the driver.

The victim was taken to a local hospital for assessment and treatment.

The investigation led to the identification of the suspect vehicle.

A male suspect was later located and arrested.

As a result, a 25-year-old has been charged with sexual assault and assault.

The accused is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.
