You know those moments when you’re standing in your kitchen, holding a perfectly innocent store‑bought croissant, and you think… what if I absolutely flatten this thing and cover it with chocolate? That’s the exact energy behind the Croissant Smashwich – a buttery, melty, slightly chaotic treat that tastes like a dessert you’d swear came from a trendy café, even though you made it in under five minutes.
Perfect for late‑night cravings, Saturday morning indulgence, or those “I deserve something ridiculous and delicious” moods. One smash, one press, one glorious bite.
Croissant Smashwich Recipe
What you need
- store‑bought croissants
- Melting chocolate of your choice
- chocolate chips
- chopped chocolate bar
- wafers
- Optional toppings
- crushed pretzels
- chopped nuts
- mini marshmallows
- sprinkles
- caramel drizzle
- sea salt
- Butter or nonstick spray for your panini press or pan
How to Make It
1. Flatten the croissant
- Smash it with your hand, a rolling pin, or the panini press (unplugged) until it becomes a thin, even sheet.

2. Cook it
- Panini press:
- Lightly butter or spray the plates.
- Close and press until golden and melty, about 2–4 minutes.
- Stovetop pan:
- Melt a little butter.
- Cook each side until crisp and the chocolate is melted.

3. Dip in chocolate
You can dip one side or both sides in chocolate. You can also just do one side or both….or go for it and cover it all with chocolate!
4. Top it off
- While it’s warm, add crushed pretzels, nuts, marshmallows, sprinkles, or a drizzle of caramel.
- A pinch of sea salt makes it taste like a fancy bakery treat.
TIP
Leave it in the fridge for a few minutes to let the chocolate harden up.
There you go! Easy, fast, fancy & delicious!
