Lonny Bohonos may be working with the city of Thunder Bay but at one point in his life he was a professional hockey player.
Born in Winnipeg, Bohonos went undrafted in the NHL but ended up signing with the Vancouver Canucks after a successful final year with the Portland Winter Hawks of the Western Hockey League (WHL).

He also spent time with the Maple Leafs and even played overseas in both the German League and the National League in Switzerland.
Bohonos was playing for Adler Mannheim of the German DEL League in November of 2005 when he tore his knee and broke his neck in a collision with Denis Pederson of the Berlin Polar Bears.
The injury forced him to be sidelined for the remainder of the year. He did attempt a comeback for the 2006-2007 season but he made the decision to retire.
Despite an early end to his playing career, Bohonos has the distinction of being a two time Spengler Cup winner with Team Canada and the host HC Davos.
The tournament, which was cancelled in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic, is held during the Christmas season in Davos, Switzerland.
