This Sunday on Uncle Ed’s Country Den, I’ll play classics from outlaw country atrists. Outlaw country enjoyed success throughout the 70s and early 80s with musicians who wanted to record country the way they wanted, on their own terms with a mix of country, rock ‘n’ roll and blues. The biggest leaders of the genre were Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson, featured throughout the show and they are my Classic Country Legends. I’ve also got Bobby Bare, Tanya Tucker, a few from Hank Williams and his son Bocephus; Merle Haggard teams up with Willie for a western classic from a 1990 movie that starred Jimmy Dean named after his biggest classic; David Allan Coe who wrote a classic hit for famed outlaw singer Johnny Paycheck, also turned into a movie; classics from Kris Kristofferson and Steve Earle, a classic that helped build Johnny Cash‘s outlaw standing; along with Michael Murphy from 1975, Tompall Glaser and Marty Robbins.
Uncle Ed’s Country Den is brought to you by Backstage, Thunder Bay’s newest music and accessory store at 215 Red River Road on Country 105.
