Join me this Sunday morning at 6 for UNCLE ED’S COUNTRY DEN. I’ll be playing originals and/or remakes of classic country songs. Among those was Johnny Horton‘s Honky-Tonk Man, that he co-wrote and first recorded in 1956. Dwight Yoakam added his special touch to the remake 30 years later, as his debut single that went to number 1 from the album Guitars, Cadillacs, Etc., Etc.
What is your favorite country remake?
I’ve also got a remake for Hank Williams and one of his classics remade by his son Hank Jr.; Carl Perkins with an original for himself about some fine-looking footwear; George Jones remakes a 1980s classic and remakes of some of his biggest hits from Mickey Gilley, Sawyer Brown, Webb Pierce and Red Sovine; a doubleshot of big covers for Willie Nelson; a remake for Glen Campbell that becomes his signature song; Hank Snow gets an original with a change in locations; Dolly Parton is my Classic Country Legends with two originals remade into big hits; Johnny Cash covers Nine Inch Nails and Gene Autry and daughter Rosanne takes one of her dads songs to number one and more.
The Country Den is brought to you by Backstage, Thunder Bay’s newest music and accessory store at 215 Red River Road on Country 105.
