Thousands of NB Power customers are experiencing an unplanned power outage in the Greater Moncton area on Monday afternoon.

More than 7,900 homes and businesses were without electricity as of 2:50 p.m., down from more than 9,300 earlier in the afternoon.

The utility did not provide an estimated time for restoration but noted that updates will be posted as more information becomes available.

NB Power has not released details on the cause of the outage.
