Nearly 17,000 homes and businesses in the Saint John region are currently without electricity.

Saint John Energy is reporting around 5,700 customers impacted on the east side of the city.

“Crews are on route to investigate with no estimated restoration time yet,” the utility said in a social media post around 2:35 p.m. Thursday.

Meanwhile, NB Power’s website shows around 11,000 customers affected in the Kennebecasis Valley/Fundy region.

Estimated restoration times are not currently available.
