Three suspects have been charged with first degree murder, with one that remains at large, after a fatal shooting in Amherst.

It was April 13 when 41-year-old Chris Legget was shot and killed on Prince Arthur Street.

Police say two men, aged 56 and 42 from Moncton, New Brunswick, are in custody with one 34-year-old from Springhill, Nova Scotia who is believed to be evading police.

Michael Ryan is described as 5’8, 189 lbs with brown hair and blue eyes.

It was just before 7 p.m. on Tuesday when police received a call about a loud bang on Prince Arthur Street.

There was allegedly a fight between the victim and the three suspects near the intersection of Prince Arthur and Church Streets.

Leggett ran away but came back to Prince Arthur Street. That’s when the vehicle pulled up, someone got out and shot him with what appeared to be a long gun.

Police found him on the ground with a gunshot wound to the lower back. He was taken to hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after.

The suspects left the scene in an SUV that was reported as stolen earlier this month in Moncton and is now seized by police.
