A 47-year-old Thunder Bay man is facing multiple charges after police say he struck two parked vehicles and was later found unconscious behind the wheel.

Thunder Bay Police Service officers were called to the 500 block of Kingsway on Monday morning following reports of a pickup truck colliding with parked vehicles.

Witnesses told officers the driver left the scene and might have been impaired.

The truck was located soon after in a parking lot on Arthur Street West.

The driver was found unconscious inside the running vehicle. Officers woke him and observed signs of impairment, along with items consistent with drug use inside the truck.

The man was arrested, taken to the station, and later refused to provide a blood sample.

He has been charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle, dangerous driving, two counts of failing to stop after an accident, operation while prohibited, and refusal to comply with demand.

He has been released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
