Area residents can expect to see their electricity costs fall in November.
The Ontario Energy Board says Time of Use rates for the off-peak, mid-peak and on-peak periods are being lowered as of November 1st.
During the Off-Peak period, which is weekdays from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., weekends and holidays, the rate falls to 9.1 cents per kilowatt-hour from 9.8¢/kWh.
The Mid-Peak rate (Weekdays 11 a.m-5 p.m.) of 15.7¢/kWh is reduced to 14.6¢/kWh.
The On-Peak rate (Weekdays 7-11 a.m. and 5-7 p.m will be 18.9¢/kWh, down from 20.3¢/kWh.
The OEB says the government’s Ontario Electricity Rebate (OER) will change to 15.7% from 23.5%.
With the changes, the average electricity user should see savings of about $23 each month.
The rebate is applied to most residential, small business and farm customers.
The OEB states that the changes to the Time of Use rates and the rebate reflect decreases in the market price of electricity.
