A 22-year-old man is due in court over last year’s devastating wildfire in Shelburne County.
Dalton Clark Stewart of Villagedale pleaded not-guilty to three charges under the Forests Act in March.
They include lighting a fire on privately owned land without permission, failing to take reasonable efforts to prevent the spread of a fire, and leaving a fire unattended.
His trial date is expected to be the focus of Wednesday’s proceedings in Shelburne Provincial Court in Barrington.
The wildfire near Barrington Lake broke out late last May, and was more than 23,000 hectares at its peak.
The massive fire burned for nearly two months.
Dozens of homes and structure were burned while thousands of people were evacuated from their homes.
