The Nipigon detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police is calling on the public for help in understanding what might have caused the death of Vanessa Stacey-Geisler.
Stacey-Geisler was found dead in the waters of Lake Superior at age 34 on Saturday October 12, 2024.
One day earlier, the police had been called to respond to a report that an individual was in the water and needed help, but were unable to find her until the next day.
She was last seen on alive on Friday October 11, 2024, at about 12:30 p.m. walking along Riverview Street.
The autopsy determined that the cause of death was drowning, but the police have not ruled out foul play.
Two years on, her sister says that the family is still searching for answers, and miss her every single day.
“If you have any information, no matter how small, please come forward. Someone out there knows something. Vanessa deserves answers. We deserve the truth. Please help us bring her story forward,” she says.
Anyone who might have information that could assist the investigation can contact the Nipigon OPP at 1-888-310-1122, or for anonymous reporting, can contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or online.
