A vehicle collision has shut down a section of Highway 17 in both directions between Nipigon and Schreiber.

Ontario 511 reported the closure just after 1:31 a.m. on Friday.

The affected stretch runs from the Highway 11 East Junction in Nipigon to Schreiber. All lanes in that section remain closed.

There’s no word yet on the cause of the crash or when the highway will reopen.
