For the first time in months, buses are moving through Thunder Bay’s Waterfront Transit Terminal.

The north core bus terminal on Water Street has been under renovation since July 2025.

Transit riders will now be able to take shelter in a larger, more accessible space with more seating and digital displays for bus schedules.

“This project represents a meaningful investment in Thunder Bay’s transit system, supporting future growth while improving the overall experience for both riders and operators,” says Manager of Transit Services Brad Loroff.

While the terminal was under construction, buses were rerouted through Cumberland Street North at Van Norman Street, blocking traffic from accessing Cumberland from Van Norman to Camelot Street.

Travellers can now drive unimpeded through Cumberland Street North once more.
