Outdoor patios are once again expanding onto some North Core streets for the season.
The city has blocked off the westbound curbside lane of Red River Road between Court and St. Paul Streets, along with a section of St. Paul Street.
After setting that area aside for outdoor seating and patios last year, the city is revisiting the idea for the “Reimagining the North Core Streetscapes” study.
The city will need to do water main work in the downtown in the next few years, and is using this pilot project to decide how the area should be re-developed.
“The City is offering businesses the chance to once again expand their outdoors spaces this summer at little to no costs to help mitigate some of the financial impacts businesses have endured during the pandemic,” said Joel DePeuter, Manager of Realty Services.
The provinces allowed restaurants and bars to open outdoor dining this past Friday, with certain restrictions.
