Environment Canada has issued a Les Suêtes wind warning for part of Inverness County.

The warning is for an area from Margaree Harbour to Bay St. Lawrence.

Strong winds that may cause are expected from late Monday afternoon until early Tuesday morning. Maximum wind gusts are expected to reach up to 120 km/h Tuesday evening.

Special weather statements are also in effect in the following areas:

• Guysborough County
• Halifax County – east of Porters Lake
• Inverness County – Mabou and north
• Inverness County – south of Mabou
• Richmond County
• Sydney Metro and Cape Breton County
• Victoria County

The statement says a prolonged period of rain, possibly heavy at times, will begin Monday and continue through Tuesday.

Between 50 and 75 mm of rain is forecast, with locally higher amounts possible.
