
Westgate Collegiate and Vocational Institute was closed Wednesday after a reported threat to the school community.
School officials said the decision was made out of an abundance of caution, adding that student safety remains the top priority. Classes were cancelled for the day and buses were dispatched to return students home.
In a notice sent to families, the school said it was working to ensure the safety and security of students and staff. No further details about the nature of the threat were released.
Parents and guardians were advised that more information would be shared as it becomes available.
Officials have not said when the school is expected to reopen.
