Sometimes we forget that waking up each day is the first thing we should be grateful for. Do you ever wake up anxious? Anxiety trains your brain to scan for what could go wrong. AND, the more you repeat that pattern…the faster your mind goes there.
Gratitude works like a mental counterweight. It doesn’t erase your problems, but it can change what your brain practices focusing on. The goal is to ask less “What if’s” / and more “What’s real right now”?
Experts suggest what’s called the “3 Line Mental Reset”:
#1: Write down one small win. Something that went right today.
#2: Name one person, moment or resource that supported you today. This reminds your nervous system that you’re not carrying everything alone.
#3: Write one thing that you’re choosing not to carry into tomorrow. You’re not solving it – just setting it down for the night.
