Two fires continue to burn out of control in the province of New Brunswick.

The one near Miramichi continues to grow. As of Tuesday morning, it now sits at over 1100 hectares.

It was first detected on August 6.

A second out-of-control fire in Irishtown near Moncton has been remapped at 45 hectares, down from 54 on Monday.

Moncton, Riverview and Dieppe firefighters continue to assist the Department of Natural Resources in their efforts to get the flames under control.

Firefighters from Nova Scotia, PEI and Maine are also arriving to assist.

Evacuation advisories remain in effect for residents in the Irishtown, Tankville, Evangeline and Lakeville areas. They are currently on alert and have been advised to be ready to leave at a moment’s notice. No orders have been issued to this point.

The province is continuing to urge New Brunswickers to stay out of the woods and away from active wildfires.

Heat warnings continue

It’s another hot one across the province today.

Heat warnings remain in effect for the majority of New Brunswick, excluding areas to the south along the Fundy Coast.

Environment Canada has forecasted highs of between 33 and 36 degrees on Tuesday.

The humidex will make it feel even warmer at around 42.

Another hot day is expected for Wednesday.  Some relief is forecast for Thursday, with a chance of showers.
