For the past few years, I, along with others have been intrigued and fascinated at the cruise ship stops in our port.  Usually around this time of year – we hear from VisitThunderBay as to the number of stops for the upcoming season.  (patiently waiting for that announcement).

The cruise ship season, is a tradition that’s quietly grown into one of the city’s most unique warm‑weather highlights. Over the past few years, we’ve welcomed lines like Viking, Pearl Mist, Hanseatic Inspiration, Le Champlain and others.  These aren’t the massive ocean liners you see in Miami, but sleek, high‑end expedition ships that turn plenty of heads along the waterfront. Their arrivals have brought tourists to our city.  They have the chance to explore the Sleeping Giant, The Terry Fox Monument, our trails, our food scene and more.

These ships may be smaller, but they’re remarkable in their own right — floating boutique hotels designed for adventure travel. Passengers often describe Thunder Bay as one of the most memorable stops on their Great Lakes itineraries, thanks to our mix of natural beauty, and that unmistakable Northern Ontario hospitality.  Each visit brings a little extra buzz to the marina.

Danny & John chatted about the Cruise Ships, and shared just how much money some passengers spend on these “cruises”…..it’s “mind-blowing”.

Now, as spring settles in, the big question is: who’s coming this year, and how many stops will Thunder Bay see?
