A pair of Nova Scotia men have been charged with attempted murder after an incident in Moncton.

Codiac Regional RCMP officers responded to a report of a man shot with a crossbow in the early morning of April 17.

As police arrived at the scene, three suspects tried to flee in a pickup truck.

The victim was taken to hospital with what are believed to be life-threatening injuries.

Police pursued the suspects toward Memramcook.

They were stopped when a tire deflation device was used.

The driver of the vehicle, a 39-year-old Nova Scotia man, was arrested while the other two fled on foot.

Police dogs were brought in to assist with the search.

A second suspect, a 38-year-old Nova Scotia man, was quickly arrested.

The third suspect remains at large.

After the arrests, police searched the truck and seized a crossbow.

The 39-year-old appeared in Moncton provincial court later the same day and was charged with attempted murder, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, flight from police, driving while prohibited and breach of probation.

The 38-year-old man was also in Moncton provincial court and was charged with attempted murder.

Both men are being held in custody ahead of future court dates.
