A local Legion is holding a ceremony ahead of the 100th anniversary of the poppy as a symbol of remembrance.

The Port Arthur Branch #5 is putting on the event at 11:15 a.m. Sunday at the Prince Arthur Hotel.

The predecessor of the Legions, the Great War Veteran’s Association in Canada, adopted the poppy as the flower of remembrance on July 6th, 1921.

You can’t go in-person but you can watch it via live-stream on its Facebook page.
