Sadness for the loss of actor James Michael Tyler. He passed away on Sunday at age 59. He was best known as Gunther, the owner of the Central Perk coffeeshop on the sitcom Friends, and his unrequited love for Rachel, played by Jennifer Aniston.

Gunther was known as (the seventh ‘Friend’) and made 33 appearances on the show before he got a speaking part and was in 150 episodes in total. Tyler was diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer in 2018 and made no mention of it on the recent Friends reunion show, opting to not bring anybody down.

Tyler is survived by his wife Jennifer Carno and “his loved ones knew him as an actor, musician, cancer-awareness advocate, and loving husband.”
