A budget surplus with the city.

During Monday night’s meeting, administration presented their quarterly review of revenues and expenditures and are projecting $5.6 million dollars will be left over for non-COVID-19 operations, which represents 2.1 per cent of the total net budget of $273 million.

In the report, there were a few reasons identified for the extra money:

$500,000 Winter Control
$400,000 Vacancy Savings
$400,000 Court Services Revenues
$300,000 Infrastructure & Operations
$200,000 Thunder Bay Fire Rescue
$600,000 Thunder Bay Police Services
$500,000 Supplementary Taxes

In the 2021 Budget, the original amount that was approved by council was $7.2 million.
