Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for Thunder Bay and surrounding areas as an Alberta clipper brings mixed precipitation to the region this morning.
Forecasters warn of patchy ice pellets and freezing drizzle, which could lead to light ice accretion on roads, vehicles, and sidewalks.
They warn even minor buildup can create treacherous travel conditions.
The precipitation is expected to taper off by this afternoon, but temperatures will remain below freezing, meaning icy surfaces will persist into the evening.
Motorists and pedestrians should exercise caution and allow extra time for travel.
