There isn’t much work left to do on the site of a fire in Thunder Bay’s south downtown core.

The former Odd Fellows Hall on South May Street caught fire in early March 2020, and was demolished in January.

The city’s Manager of Licensing and Enforcement, Doug Vincent, explains in an email that the final work on the site will happen in the next few weeks.

He says the next steps will be sending the bill to the property owner.

If the owner doesn’t pay, the city has a few options such as transferring that bill to property taxes as a lien, which would protect taxpayers from paying, or City Council could seize the property and sell it off to recover any taxes still owed.
